When someone nearby searches for a business like yours, do you show up? More and more, that search happens in ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, and Claude, as well as on Google Maps. They all pull from the same local signals, so solid local SEO is now your foundation for AI visibility too.
The Local SEO Lab is a hands-on workshop where you’ll do the work during class, not just take notes. It’s a streamlined version of the process I use for my agency clients, focused on the highest-impact steps you can handle yourself. You’ll learn how to:
- Research your top local competitors and see which categories and services they use to rank
- Find the keywords people actually search in your service area, not just national numbers
- Set up and optimize your Google Business Profile, including categories, description, services, photos, and posts
- Create or clean up your listings on Bing, Apple Maps, Yelp, Facebook, and other directories
- Find local websites to link to you
- Get more reviews and respond to them the right way
- Update your website for local search
- Check whether AI tools are recommending your business, and find out what to fix if they aren’t
- Set a baseline so you can track your progress after class
You’ll leave with:
- A Local SEO Audit that shows your starting point
- The same Local SEO Template I use for client work, filled in with your own business info
- AI prompts for your GBP description, service descriptions, posts, review requests, FAQs, and schema
- A Location Page Checklist
- Bonus keyword research credits in Keyword Strategizer
- A live look at how your business ranks across your service area
- Lifetime access to the class recording
Is this class for you?
Local SEO Lab is for businesses that are eligible for a Google Business Profile. That means you serve customers in person, either at a location they visit (like a studio, office, or shop) or by traveling to them (like a contractor, mobile groomer, or cleaning service). If you offer both in-person and virtual services, you’re eligible too.
If your business is entirely online, with no in-person contact with customers, you won’t be able to use most of what we cover, so this class isn’t the right fit.
Before class: This workshop assumes basic SEO knowledge. If terms like “keyword research” and “on-page SEO” are new to you, start with the SEO Quickstart. You’ll also want to install Chrome and sign up for the free Keyword Strategizer trial. Save your 5 trial keywords for class so we can use them together.
Join in person or online. Attend at The Collective in Annapolis (lunch included, so note any dietary restrictions when you register) or join online. We’ll take a 30-minute lunch break around the halfway point. Bring your laptop so you can follow along.
SEO Success Club members: Log in before you register to get 50% off the live workshop. The replay is included with your membership. Not a member? Join now!
